We will visit the Bogyoke Aung San Market (also called the Scott Market.) This is the perfect place to buy souvenirs and gifts of local handicrafts, woodcarvings, dolls, lacquer wares, textiles and gems.

Then we will take you to the spectacular Shwedagon Pagoda one of the world’s most famous and richest stupas. The Shwedagon is over 2,500 years old towering over the city with a height of 326 feet and covered with 60 tons of pure gold. Overnight stay in the historical Governor’s Residence.

Day 2
After your complimentary Hotel breakfast, we will start by riding Circular Train. This will give you an insight into how Myanmar people live and you will get great photos.

When the Myanmar King conquered Thailand he brought the Thailand Queen back to Myanmar and made her one of his wife’s. He built a palace for her in Thai style and trained her son in war craft.

Then we will proceed to the amazing Golden Rock (Kyaikthiyo.) Kyaiktiyo is essentially a pagoda but it is the way this gold gilded rock hangs precariously, as if about to topple over the 1100 metre cliff, which makes its visitors stop and gape.

Enjoy the spectacular sunset from the hill top. Overnight stay in Kyaikhtiyo.

Day 4
We will visit the U Zi Na Pagoda where you can see the western view of Mawlamyine. Mawlamyine was the first capital of British Burma between 1826 and 1852

Mawlamyine is the setting of George Orwell‘s famous 1936 memoir Shooting an Elephant. The book opens with the striking words:

“In Moulmein, in Lower Burma, I was hated by large numbers of people the only time in my life that I have been important enough for this to happen to me.”

During colonial times, Moulmein had a substantial Anglo-Burmese population. An area of the city was known as “Little England” due to the large Anglo-Burmese community.

It is probably best known to English speakers through the opening lines of Rudyard Kipling‘s poem Mandalay:

“By the old Moulmein pagoda, lookin’ lazy at the sea.

There’s a Burma girl a-settin’, and I know she thinks o’ me”.

Continue to Mahamuni Temple then proceed to enjoy the sunset of Kyaik Thanlan Pagoda which was built in 875 A.D. and enshrines the Tripitaka Buddhist manuscripts as well as a hair relic from the Buddha. It’s located on a hilltop which offers splendid views over the city. Overnight stay in Mawlamyine.

Overnight stay in the colonial city of Mawlamyine.

Day 6
After breakfast we will pick you up from your hotel and visit Bilu Island. Bilu Island (Bilu Kyun) or Ogre Island has quite a few stories about the islands name. The best one is in the past people were so ugly and ate raw meat so they were considered to be ogres.

Myanmar national parks and wildlife
Being closed for so long has meant that Myanmar has so much fauna and flora intact / remaining.

“It is incredibly rare to find such rich and diverse wildlife anywhere in the world today but certainly in Southeast Asia,” said Clare Campbell, Director of Wildlife Asia, an Australian conservation NGO.

Apart from the golden temples and pagodas or the enigmatic history, Myanmar National Parks delights the nature lovers via the real safari experience in the lush and mixed deciduous forest, hill grassland, pine trees, etc. The amazing wildlife makes the National Parks popular destinations for the adventurers in the world.

Myanmar Ecotourism has won the eco-tourists’ praises for its rich collection of national parks & wildlife. Some great options are Popa Mountain National Park, Alaungdaw Kathapa National Park, Lenya National Park, Lampi Island Marine National Park, National Kandawgyi Botanical Garden. These fantastic options ensure the eco-travelers to see the wildlife and biodiversity in Myanmar.

The once in a lifetime journey to some of the 40 National Parks in Burma, including the Wildlife Sanctuaries, Bird Sanctuaries, Protected Areas, etc. The parks are all managed by the Wildlife Department of Ministry of Forestry. So, which Parks to visit for the best ecotourism experience? Though there are many, three candidates stand out of the crowds.

#1: Khakaborazi National Park
With the height of 9,052 meters, Khakaborazi is the highest mountain in Myanmar where the significant National Park was built in 1996. The park formerly served as the nature reserve and then it was recognized as the National Park in 1998 for protecting the rich biodiversity surrounding the mountain.

This eco-site is full of pine and deciduous forests that attract many rare butterflies such as the yellow-and-black Swallowtail. Khakaborazi National Park stores some species of the native orchids. Today many tourists and climbers visit the Park and make it the great base camp to enjoy the scenic views from the mountain peak.

#2: Nat Ma Taung National Park
ASEAN granted Nat Ma Taung (Mount Victoria) the great title as Myanmar’s newest Heritage Park in October 2012. The Park itself was founded in 1994 and covered the area of 720 square kilometers. Such area protects the evergreen and mixed forests associated with the rare species of orchids and butterflies that are only found in Myanmar. About the wildlife here it includes the leopards, wild boars, tigers, gibbons, and hundreds of the different species of birds. There are lots of endangered species protected in this natural park.

#3: Hlawaga National Park
About 35km to the north of Yangon, Hlawaga National Park is the popular destination for the eco-tourists who have the strong passion for the wildlife. The park also attracts many families coming to witness up to 21 different species of mammals, 145 species of birds, and 8 kinds of reptiles. The presence of the mini zoo lets you see how some wild animals like tigers, leopards, crocodiles and bears live. You can also experience elephant riding, rock climbing, boating and trekking through the green park.

Myeik Archipelago
Myeik Archipelago is the second largest Archipelago in the world; warm, sunny, isolated, crystal clear waters and visited by so few tourists. Many of our customers call it paradise!
